By age ten, Carolina knew every regular's order by heart. At fifteen, she enrolled in culinary school dreaming of becoming a chef, learning classical techniques and French terminology.

But during her restaurant internship, Carolina discovered something unexpected: she preferred front-of-house to kitchen. She loved reading people, recommending dishes, seeing faces light up when food arrived perfectly. The creative energy of cooking felt lonely; the social energy of serving felt alive. Her culinary instructors were disappointed when she switched to hospitality management, but her mΓ£e understood: "Some people cook food. You connect people to food."

For three years, Carolina worked Rio's restaurant sceneβtourist traps in Copacabana, upscale in Ipanema, traditional in Lapa. She noticed a pattern: tourists who couldn't speak Portuguese ordered timidly, missed amazing dishes, left hungry but unsatisfied. So she started teaching through menus. "Feijoada is this, moqueca is thatβjust point and say 'eu quero!'" Her tables learned fastest because hunger motivates.

Don JoaquΓn Rio hired her specifically for this skillβserver who teaches Portuguese through Brazilian food. Now Carolina's dream is opening a restaurant that's equally food school and dining experience. Until then, every order is a language lesson, every meal a cultural bridge.
